New Podcast: Data Centres and the Grid, Greening ICT in Europe

The information and communication technology (ICT) sector is central to the future of the European economy and the continent’s road to net zero. Simultaneously, the EU is also trying to quantify the sector’s energy consumption and environmental impact. In this context, the European Commission has been looking closely at the contribution and subsequent impact of data centres (DCs).

Join CERRE academics Prof. Catherine Banet and Prof. Michael Pollitt in conversation with Nazim Khiari, Project Officer in CERRE’s Energy & Sustainability practice, to discuss why DCs are coming under growing scrutiny; their place in the European energy system; and what can be done to enable a positive contribution from data centres to European and global climate targets in the latest edition of the CERRE podcast (available also directly on SoundCloud):

Lorna Stokes
Former Head of Communications

Lorna was Head of Communications at the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) until February 2022. She led all aspects of the think tank’s communication, including relations with the press, online and offline communications.

Previously in her career, Lorna worked at Science Europe and the European Network of Living Labs where she was responsible for all communication-related matters. Lorna holds a degree in International Management and Modern Languages (French) from the University of Bath, UK, and is a dual British-Belgian citizen.
