On 28 February, ahead of the publication of the European Commission’s Climate Law, Montel News interviewed CERRE research fellow, Catherine Banet.
The EU Climate Law is meant to be a guide for all other EU policies in order to reach the EU climate targets by 2050.
As part of the EU Green Deal, the EU is also expected to deliver a European Climate Act along with a series of other legislative initiatives amending existing legislation to increase the EU greenhouse gas reduction target to at least 50% compared to 1990 levels by 2030. We also expect an increased target for renewable energy to be proposed in 2021.
In this podcast, Banet provides insights on what to expect from the EU Green Deal and by when. She shares her views on carbon border taxes, sector coupling (or smart sector integration), and the ETS reform.
