In an interview with swedish YLE media’s European Correspondent Mette Nordström, CERRE Academic Co-Director Sally Broughton Micova and Andrea Calef, Lecturer in Economics, discussed the European Union’s Digital Service Act (DSA) and its potential implications.
Sally Broughton Micova praised the DSA as “groundbreaking”. However, she cautioned that immediate, significant changes might not be readily apparent. Andrea Calef views the DSA as a pilot project due to its novelty. Both experts emphasized the need to define acceptable content across different European countries, a challenge stemming from the DSA’s broad definitions. “Therefore, we probably won’t see anything revolutionary in the next few months because you have to establish benchmarks to identify potential failures.”, Sally Broughton Micova added.
