EU Energy Priorities 2025 and the New US Context: A Conversation with Mariusz Kawnik and Russell Roth

Mariusz is a Polish energy attaché at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU. He specialises in the fields of fossil fuels, hydrogen and CCUS. He has 17 years of experience in energy sector – both in the public sector (he worked in several Ministries) and the private sector (he worked in a leading Polish natural gas and oil enterprise – PGNiG).

Russell (Russ) Roth is the Energy Attaché and Director of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) office at the U.S. Mission to the European Union. Russ is responsible for shaping and advancing U.S. energy, climate, and nuclear security interests.

Russ served as the DOE Attaché at U.S. Embassy London from 2019- 2022 and the DOE Senior Advisor at European Command Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany from 2016-2019.
