This year’s edition of the Digital Platforms Summit will explore how the Digital Markets Act (DMA) is reshaping online markets and governance, while also anticipating the forthcoming Digital Fairness Act (DFA). The event will take place on 25 February 2026 in a hybrid format, addressing enforcement practices, consumer protection, and safeguards for minors online, as well as interactions with broader EU policies on data, competition, and artificial intelligence.
The Digital Platforms Summit 2026 will also present the outcomes of ongoing CERRE research projects, led by Director of Research Zach Meyers and Academic Director Alexandre de Streel, providing fresh evidence to inform policy debates and future regulatory approaches. The Summit will furthermore offer the opportunity to engage in a wide-ranging discussion of research findings, including the economic and market effects of the DMA, challenges of interoperability between platforms, the interplay between regulatory instruments, and governance mechanisms for effective enforcement.
It will also examine horizontal themes under the DFA, such as consumer protection by design, dark patterns, ecosystem regulation, and the simplification of the regulatory framework. Further focus will be placed on addictive design, personalisation, and child protection, considered both as specific topics and as cross-cutting priorities.
High-level discussions and interactive panels will provide a space to reflect on enforcement lessons, anticipate challenges, and shape the next phase of Europe’s digital rulebook.
This will be a hybrid event.
