CERRE at All Things Energy Forum

On Thursday 3 June, CERRE Research Fellow, Catherine Banet, will be a panellist during Day 2 of the All Things Energy Forum. This international digital conference will address the following topics (identified as “six mega phenomena”) with government ministers, industry players, public executives and experts in the energy field:

  1. A Sustained Pandemic
  2. Economics
  3. Energy trade
  4. International politics
  5. Energy/Environmental policies
  6. Disruptive technologies

Professor Banet, whose most recent CERRE report was on the revision of State aid guidelines for environmental protection and energy (EEAG), will participate in an afternoon session at 12:30 CEST entitled “Electrical Energy System Integration”. She will discuss “Planning Requirements: Key Instruments for Enabling Energy System Integration” and will be joined by:

Catherine Banet (PhD) is Professor of Law at the University of Oslo and Head of the Department for Energy and Resources Law, Norway.

Her legal research activities focus on energy market design, energy transport infrastructures regulation, support schemes and financing models, focusing on renewable energy and notably offshore wind, climate change mitigation measures such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), and hydrogen regulation.

Prof. Banet has a background from the private law practice (Norway, France), the European Commission (DG ENV), U.S. diplomatic mission and academia. She is a member of the Academic Advisory Group of the Section on Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Law of the IBA, and Chair of the Board of the Norwegian Energy Law Association.
