About

On Tuesday 21 June, CERRE Academic Director, Alexandre de Streel, will join the panel discussion “Regulating Digital Markets – what enforcement challenges for the new rules?” organised by the International Institute of Communications.

The EU has developed digital policies for more than a decade, yet only recently a comprehensive and clear design is emerging; fundamental cornerstones are being laid with the final approval of the Digital Market Act and the Digital Service Act.

The scope of these rules matches the extension of digital markets and services and thus they touch upon the entire economy and leap into the future. Therefore, the digital legislation package set a new framework, but also has to connect the dots among all existing pieces of legislations and institutional interactions.

Together with panellists Alberto Bacchiega(European Commission), Marisa Tierno Centella (CNMC), Chiara Caccinelli (ARCEP) and Professor Elisa Giomi (AGCOM), Professor de Streel will explore the crucial issues related to digital package enforcement, such as the relationship and interactions of the new rules with other pieces of legislation, particularly competition law and electronic communications regulation and the roles and actual vertical interdependencies between the EU and national institutions.
