WHITE PAPER | Ambitions for Europe 2024-2029
SUMMARY | Ambitions for Europe 2024-2029

The Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) launches its White Paper, “Ambitions for Europe 2024-2029,” detailing strategic recommendations to the new European Parliament and Commission for the energy, tech, and mobility sectors.

As the European Union faces multifaceted challenges and opportunities ahead, The Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) presents a comprehensive white paper detailing strategic regulatory recommendations for the upcoming EU legislature. This paper, titled “Ambitions for Europe 2024-2029: Harnessing regulation to boost the Twin Transition,” is a forward-looking document that aims to shape the future of EU policy across the tech, energy, and mobility sectors.

In this White Paper, renowned CERRE academics outline nine key ambitions for the EU to achieve by 2029, emphasising the need for robust, resilient, and future-proof regulatory frameworks addressing both cross-sectoral challenges and specific sectoral ambitions in Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Energy & Sustainability, and Mobility.

CERRE’s Ambitions for Europe 2024-2029:

  1. Towards a new regulatory approach: Adopting novel ways of working to adapt to new challenges
  2. Build robust, resilient, and future-proof digital infrastructure and foundational technologies
  3. Ensure a safe, positive and fair online platform ecosystem
  4. Create a thriving, vibrant, and competitive data and innovation economy
  5. Developing fair and efficient energy and carbon markets
  6. Building resilient and sufficient energy infrastructure
  7. Creating appropriate institutional and governance framework to reach net zero
  8. Supporting effective, efficient, and fair public transport in Europe
  9. Establish a leading-edge, smart, and sustainable European Mobility Data Space
