On 27 April, CERRE Joint Academic Director Alexandre de Streel (Professor, UNamur) spoke to the Portuguese Competition Authority on merger control, data and the challenges for competition policy in the digital era.
The challenges for competition agencies that mergers bring about in the digital era are broad: they go from a) ensuring that the right deals are caught by the merger control systems, to b) developing the competitive assessment of these deals in an uncertain context, and to c) ensuring adequate design for remedies.
In this podcast, Professor de Streel shares his views and concrete proposals to address these challenges.
Alexandre de streel has contributed to this debate with several publications. Just recently he co-authored a CERRE issue paper on “Big tech acquisitions competition and innovation”.
