In Memory of Jean-Claude Maun

  • 9 March 2020

Professor Jean-Claude Maun left us on March 6. Professor Emeritus at the École Polytechnique de Bruxelles (Brussels School of Engineering) of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Jean-Claude was part of the first team of CERRE Joint Academic Directors from 2010 to 2015. He was “the engineer” within a group of economists and lawyers. He contributed to achieving our ambition to provide multidisciplinary perspectives on regulatory issues for digital and network industries.

As early as 2008, when I proposed the launch of a structure for studies and research on these questions, Jean-Claude Maun enthusiastically supported this initiative. In 2010, when our think tank saw the light of day in a European framework, Jean-Claude Maun, who had meanwhile become Dean of his faculty, immediately made the ULB a CERRE member. He took on responsibilities within the management team, in particular with regard to matters related to his expertise in electrical networks, which has been awarded numerous prizes and distinctions.

Jean-Claude was a stimulating, demanding, faithful and deeply honest man. I will always be grateful to him for trusting me. His death grieves me. The CERRE team and I offer our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

Goodbye Jean-Claude. And thank you for everything.

***************
