CERRE report featured on Oxford Business Law Blog

On 8 May 2019, CERRE released a new report providing provides recommendations to competition authorities on how to better assess market power in the platform economy. 

The report is now featured on Oxford Business Law Blog – Digital platforms: Market definition and market power.

This report delivers guidance on how to define markets and how to assess market power when dealing with two-sided platforms.

Key findings relate to the advantages of the multi-markets approach, the recognition of zero-price markets, the relevance of homing decisions of users and the utmost importance of the assessment of entry barriers.

Professor Martin Peitz is a former CERRE Research Fellow and Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim. He is also a Director of the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation.

His policy research focuses on digital markets, regulation, and competition economics.

Martin holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Bonn.

Lauriane was Senior Manager for Communications at the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) from April 2018 to December 2020. She led all aspects of the think tank’s communication, including relations with the press, online and offline communications.  

Previously in her career, Lauriane worked with Burson-Marsteller (BCW), a leading public relations firm, where she specialised in science and political communication. She has worked on numerous communication campaigns at UN, EU and national levels with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility. 

She holds a Master in public relations and crisis communication from the IHECS (Institute for Higher Social Communication Studies).
