About

On Tuesday 15 June, CERRE Senior Project Manager, Claire-Marie Healy, will moderate a panel during Forum Europe‘s conference “The Future City: The Core of the Green & Digital Transitions in Europe”.

The conference will gather policymakers, regional and city representatives, and industry experts to discuss Europe’s role in achieving climate neutrality and digital leadership through the “twin green and digital transitions”.

On Day 1 of the conference, Claire-Marie will moderate “Session 2: connectivity, computing power, digital infrastructure and domain integration: Building the digital backbone of the smart and green city“. The discussion will consider how European cities can leverage technology, connectivity, digital infrastructure and data to create cities that are greener and more efficient. Amongst a number of detailed topics, panellists will touch upon tech and non-tech solutions to ensure reliability, data and cybersecurity, the role for AI, IoT/IoE and 5G in the EU’s European Data Strategy, demand for energy and raw materials, and the concept of a smart city ecosystem.

The session’s speakers include:

  • Cristina Martinez, Deputy Head of Unit, Technologies for Smart Communities, DG CONNECT, European Commission
  • Michael Donaldson, CTO, City of Barcelona
  • Sander van Lingen, Business Development Manager for Digital Cities, Dell Technologies
  • Vida Rozite, Energy Policy Analyst, International Energy Agency

Claire-Marie oversaw a recent CERRE Mobility project on “Mobility as a Service”, culminating in a report that analyses Europe’s mobility sector and makes concrete recommendations for decarbonising and digitalising cities, as well as two panel discussions with high-level policymakers, key European industry players, academic experts and regulatory authorities.
