Sandro Santamato

Sandro Santamato is the Head of the Unit in charge of the Single European Rail Area in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Mobility and Transport. His team is responsible for pursuing the conditions to ensure a competitive railway sector and follows, among others, aspects of rail infrastructure capacity, track access charges, and ticketing.

An economist by training, he was previously Head of Unit for Maritime Transport and Logistics, and has formerly worked in DG Competition and in the DG for Economic and Financial Affairs.
