Isabelle Vandoorne has been a civil servant at the European Commission since 2001. Prior to working as a deputy Head of the Research and Innovation (and urban mobility) Unit, she served as the acting Head of the Sustainable and Intelligent Transport unit at DG MOVE. Previously, she developed EU policies and regulations in the areas of intelligent transport systems, railways and telecoms, and with digitalisation projects in the field of EU taxation. Before that, she worked for the Belgian Railways. She holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical/Telecom Engineering from the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons in Belgium, where she also worked as a researcher.
