David Schmitz

David Schmitz is a Junior Project Officer at CERRE and supports CERRE members and European policymakers on EMS policy and regulatory issues across the Energy, Mobility & Sustainability (EMS) practice. Before joining CERRE, he worked as an intern and research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, and gained experience through internships in consulting and the German public sector. He is also currently volunteering with the European Youth Energy Network.

David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Sociology from the University of Bonn and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Cologne, specialising in sustainability and energy transition. Last year, he also participated in an intensive summer school on ‘Energy Policy & Security of the EU’ at Masaryk University in Czechia.
