Augustijn van Haasteren

Augustijn van Haasteren is working for DG Energy of the European Commission. Since 2003, his assignments are related to energy market development.

He currently works for the unit within DG Energy responsible for ‘Decarbonisation and Sustainability of Energy Sources’, where he is team leader of the CCUS team implementing the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy and preparing a CO2 transport regulatory package. Before that, he was the team leader for the internal market for hydrogen and the hydrogen and gas market decarbonisation package. Other previous assignments include the organisation of the electricity market design part of the Clean Energy for All Europeans’ package and dealing with energy related matters in the restructuring programme for Greece.

Prior to his assignments in DG Energy, he worked in DG Competition enforcing the antitrust and merger control rules, including in IT media and energy sectors.
