John McSweeney is Director, Operations at CERRE and is responsible for the overall coordination of the think tank’s work programme and activities. His focus is on the continuous improvement of CERRE’s organisation and work practices – from how we work with our members and academic team, to budgeting and team structure – to help us better deliver our mission.
John graduated with an MA in International Studies from University of Limerick in 2006. After a short spell in investment banking, he moved to Belgium in 2007 to work as a Programme Coordinator at the Irish College, Leuven, an educational and cultural institute linking Ireland to European policymaking. He joined the European Wind Energy Association in 2009, going on to help manage their industry-leading annual conference, before moving to CERRE in 2014. At CERRE, John has held a number of positions involved in delivering our programme of events and research activities.
