CERRE contributes to debate on storage in the EU energy transition

On 22 May, CERRE’s Director for Energy, Per-Olof Granström took part actively in a debate hosted by PubAffairs Bruxelles about the role of energy storage systems for the EU energy transition.

During his speech, Per-Olof Granström highlighted the significant changes to the energy system, the driving forces of flexibility and energy storage and the importance of a good regulatory framework for energy storage.

He also referred to a new study CERRE is currently preparing on an energy storage system that can work in an unbundled environment. It will look at the use of energy storage from a grid perspective. It will highlight the complexities of this new setting and study the possibilities for specific rules regarding energy storage for regulated grid purposes. More information on this study will come soon.
