Assessing the market power of digital platforms
This event will present and discuss the policy recommendations of a new CERRE research: ‘Assessing the market power of digital platforms’.
Over the past decades, the amount of research on the competitive mechanics of online platforms has significantly risen. However, compelling solutions for measuring market power in digital platform markets from a competition policy and regulatory perspective are still lacking.
This report led by CERRE Research Fellow Prof. Martin Peitz (University of Mannheim) and Prof. Jens-Uwe Franck (University of Mannheim) provides a major contribution to the ongoing policy discussions around competition and regulation of online platforms and the issue of measuring market power in this sector.
Join key actors from the digital sector, including representatives of online platforms, telecom operators, regulatory authorities, policymakers and academic experts for an afternoon of debate on this highly relevant and timely matter.
Wednesday 8 May 2019, 14.00-17.00,
