The future role of gas
In 2017, CERRE launched an innovative new research project examining the consequences for the European gas sector of the expected electrification of European road transport and residential heating.
Based on new statistical modelling and taking into account European energy policy goals, the research will highlight the implications of electrification on the total electricity system in Europe. Based on this, it will consider how the expected increase in electricity demand can be met and the extent to which gas and gas infrastructures will have a role to play – through traditional gas-fired electricity generation and through innovative gas products such as power-to-gas and biogas.
The conclusions and policy recommendations of project report will be presented at this event, and debated with key stakeholders: gas TSOs distributers and suppliers, electricity suppliers, energy regulators, the European commission, and renewable energy providers.
Register using the above tab, to join the debate on the future of the gas sector.
This event is reserved for CERRE members' representatives and a limited number of non-members.
A complete programme and list of speakers will be published in the near future.
